Ignore reports of new Urhobo king —OTOTA

The people of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, have described the reported crowning of a new Orosuen (King) for the kingdom as “false and completely at variance” with the selection process for a new king for the vacant stool.
Briefing newsmen, yesterday, at the palace of the Orosuen with the traditional council, women and youths present, Otota (Prime Minister) and Regent of the Kingdom, Chief Wilson Eboh, said that the declaration of Chief Kesiena Okumagba as new Orosuen as reported on July 21, was a desecration of the traditional stool and borne out of desperation.
Chief Eboh said: “We are deeply disturbed by the tension generated by said report. For a person to be qualified to ascend the Orosuen throne, he must be selected by the kingmakers and presented to the traditional council and not to be chosen by the gods as the said Chief Okumagba claimed.
“It is either he is ignorant or deliberately wants to create an atmosphere of chaos and possibly mislead members of the public with the help of the media. Efforts are being made to address both the criminal and civil aspects of same by the traditional council of Okere Urhobo Kingdom.”
According to the regent, but for lingering litigations over the vacant stool, a new Orosuen would have emerged within three months of the passage of Chief Benjamin Okumagba, the last Orosuen who joined his ancestors in 2012.
He said that the traditional council had in a letter dated May 13, 2015 warned Chief Okumagba against acts of impersonating the Orosuen of the kingdom when the council first learned of his moves.
