Ekiti APC to AGF: Prosecute Fayose, others for rigging:


The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has again urged the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), to prosecute all indicted people in the June 21, 2014 Ekiti governorship election rigging scandal.The renewed call followed media reports on confessional statements by the expelled Ekiti State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Tope Aluko.The party said it had on two occasions petitioned the Office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice on the same matter, stressing that the latest revelations had made it imperative for the nation’s chief law officer to act.

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on Wednesday cleared the FG of blame over the inability of some state governments to pay their workers’ salaries. Okonjo-Iweala, in a statement by her Special Adviser on Communications, Paul Nwabuikwu said the governors of such states should be blamed for the development in their states because they were told through the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee to make the issue of wage a priority. Anambra seals off 15 buildings for tax evasion:

The Anambra State Government has sealed off 15 buildings in Nnewi, a commercial city in the state, for tax evasion. The buildings are three filling stations, two residential homes, one private school and one hospital. The Anambra Property and Land Use Charge carried out the closure of the buildings following judgments it obtained from an Nnewi Magistrate’s Court against the owners of the property. Speaking with Southern City News, the Head of Human Resources and Administration of APLUC, Mrs. Chinenye Okafor, said the affected buildings owed the state government heavily. She said, “In ensuring that we boost the Internally Generated Revenue of the state, there is the need for property and land owners to pay their rates.” She said the organisation in 2014 and 2015 carried out similar enforcement in Awka and Onitsha on 85 buildings. Nigerian Priest jailed for 8 months in the UK for sexual assault!

58 year old Nigerian priest, Father Hilary Ogom Nwadei, pictured above has been sentenced to 8 months in jailed by a UK court for sexually assaulting a woman he met while staying at St Mary’s Priory in Leyland on December 12, 2013. According to Lancashire Evening Post, Father Nwadei, a priest from the Diocese of Issele-Uku in Delta State, Nigeria, had moved to the UK to pursue his doctorate in Law degree at the University of Lancashire when the incident happened. He was said to have complained of loneliness and became friends with his victim. On the day of the incident, he'd invited the lady to come to his room to help him pack for a trip to Nigeria when he assaulted her by fondling her boobs.
